After a long absence
How pathetic am I. A daily photo blog that's updated every six months!
Actually it has been an intense semester, my last of mortuary school. I'm looking forward to several things after graduation and one of them is having time for more recreational writing. I'd also like to go fishing and play golf.
Today's picture is of my wax head for reconstructive arts class. We start with a plastic cast "skull" and have to build a recognizable head and face. Sounds challenging for the artfully challenged, but the most important thing is to have your facial features in proportion in compliance of the canon of beauty.

Have any kind of day you want
You can't fix stupid.
Get a Hobby.
Those are just a few words of Wisdom from Jim White (second from left) who we learned died this evening. Jim was a legendary broadcaster at KMOX radio in St. Louis.

Not a funeral home
Oskaloosa, Iowa, is home to two Frank Lloyd Wright - designed homes. This is a shot of the Jack Lamberson House, built in 1951. I set off on a Sunday afternoon to photograph both houses but the other one is rather secluded and I couldn't get a good shot.
Bates Funeral Home
This is the other funeral home in Oskaloosa. Or is GVL the other funeral home? I'm sure the townsfolk have an opinion.
Garland, Van Arkel, Lankamp Funeral Home
Located in Oskaloosa, Iowa, it is known by the locals as GVL Funeral Home.
Its been months since I've been out to take funeral home pictures due to time constraints but I made time during our visit to get shots of the Oskaloosa establishments. I have a few I still need to shoot back in St. Louis and hopefully during the semester interim I'll be able to get a few of those.

Vacationing in Iowa
SOMEWHERE IN IOWA -- The great thing about vacationing in Iowa is that you don't have to worry about what you look like in a swimsuit.
Iowa looks a lot like where I grew up in Monroe County, Illinois, with white farm houses and lots of corn fields, but more of them. Nonetheless, it still feels like vacation in that we're someplace other than at home and don't have to do much of everything. My mother-in-law keeps us well fed and plenty of people to keep the baby entertained. Actually at his age he entertains most people.
So far we haven't done much of anything and that's the way it should be.
